Master of Science in Health Systems Administration
The graduate program in Health Systems Administration employs
a broad systems approach. The curriculum includes exposure to
the social, technical, economic and policy forces that are shaping
and reshaping the context of health care organizations and defining
the management agenda. The three themes that integrate the curriculum
are 1) understanding the organization and functions of the hospital
because it is the most complex health care organization, 2) quality
of care, because achieving high quality is the central moral
and technical responsibility of our profession, and 3) leadership,
because our contribution is individuals who have the competencies
that are essential for organizing and leading people.
The program offers:
- A curriculum that is competency based and practice centered with a focus on quality
- A highly
accessible faculty that includes
leading academics and practitioner leaders
of a variety of health care organizations
- Small class sizes
that foster close relationships with faculty members
- Residency sites at a wide variety of organizations
- Teaming with a practicing executive
as mentor
- An integrative case seminar that extends the length of the
program
- Opportunities
to participate in the unique richness of Washington
