Scholarships for NHS Students

Health Systems Administration Students

  • The Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) maintains an extensive listing of scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate health administration students.
  • You can also find out about other funding opportunities by reading the Department of Health Systems Administration weekly newsletter, the Tuesday Morning Memo.

Nursing Undergraduate Students

  • Georgetown University Scholars at Washington Hospital Center
    Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health Studies (NHS) and Washington Hospital Center are offering an 80 percent tuition scholarship for individuals with a bachelor's degree or higher in another field who wish to earn an accelerated second degree BSN in just 16 months.   • Kaiser Permanente College to Caring (C2C) Nursing Scholarship Program
    The C2C program provides scholarships to Hispanic students who are juniors or seniors in college pursuing a bachelors degree in nursing. Students who are selected will receive a scholarship for $8,000 each year they attend nursing school. C2C Scholars will also receive a $2,000 stipend for the summer work study program at Kaiser Permanente. Click here for complete details including eligibility requirements and required documentation.   • The Jane Delano Society
    Two $1,000 scholarships awarded in May to undergraduate nursing students who have contributed volunteer service to Red Cross units. The American Red Cross Jane Delano Society Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 to advance nursing as a career option and to promote the involvement of young nurses in the Red Cross. The Society will award its third and fourth Norman Augustine $1,000 scholarships in May to two nursing students who have contributed volunteer service to a Red Cross unit within the past 5 years.   • Children's National Medical Center's Pediatric Nursing Scholarship.
    The recipients, selected from the pool of candidates, will receive Scholarship funding from $2,500.00 up to $5,000.00 each. The Scholarship is funded through the generous grant of The James T. Johnston Trust. Recipients of the scholarship will be provided clinical learning experiences and on graduation will be offered an opportunity for employment and entry into a one-year nursing internship program.

  • The Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation: 2007 National Nursing Scholarship.
    Award: One $600 Scholarship Award to the highest scoring student
    Eligibility: College nursing students in the United States.
    What is the National Nursing Common Knowledge Challenge?
    The National Nursing Challenge Scholarship is a scholarship program based on nursing curriculum. The majority of the questions were written by nurses, faculty and nursing students.
    Participants vie for scholarship money based on taking a series of short multiple-choice quizzes at the CKSF web site. The winner is determined through a combination of time and accuracy in answering the questions.
    Quiz Dates & Awards: Typically in February or March. The highest scoring student in both quizzes will be declared the winner.

  • Louise Held Award for Excellence in Nursing
    If interested in a position at any of the following California hospitals*, apply for this $2,500 a year for five years award.
  • *Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles,CA
    *UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA
    *Little Company of Mary, Torrance, CA
    *Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, CA
    *St. Johns' Hospital and Health Center, Santa Monica, CA

  • Washington Metropolitan Area Navy Nurse Corps Association
    $1,000 scholarship to an undergraduate student with a grade point average of at least 3.0.
    Application Deadline: April 1, 2007.

Nursing Graduate Students

  • Georgetown University, Excellence in Nursing Science and Practice Scholarship
    The Georgetown Excellence in Nursing Science and Practice Scholarship is jointly offered through the Georgetown University Hospital (GUH) Division of Nursing and the School of Nursing & Health Studies (NHS) to provide significant financial assistance for the GUH registered nurse to complete a graduate degree at NHS.
  • Johns Hopkins University, Anesthesia Scholarship
    The Hopkins Anesthesia Scholarship provides significant financial assistance to a valued critical care nurse who has worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital for a minimum of three years. This scholarship is open to all full time critical care nurses who demonstrate academic and professional excellence and wish to pursue graduate study in the nurse anesthesia specialty. Upon completion of the program, the successful nurse anesthetist enters his or her new career path at Hopkins.
